Aden
Inspired by black and white photography and the medium of cinema, ADEN is a 66 page self-published, fictional graphic novella that explores themes of philosophy, consciousness and isolation. The dreamlike collaged imagery within combines hand drawn illustrations with digital processes, as it depicts the surreal journey of a young man called Dieter, who traverses an enigmatic dystopian landscape.
The narrative focuses on concepts relating to existence, memory, identity, decay and self-acceptance. Visualising concepts of isolation and alienation, ADEN examines what we do - as individuals - with our own freedom, while exploring the illusory nature of choice. A key theme of the book is questioning how we can embrace our own isolation, and engage it as a catalyst to lead a more purposeful life.
